The King And I
La Comedia’s run of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I was cut short by COVID-19, but I am quite proud of the work I did on the production. Due to a last minute replacement of the show's designer, paint elevations were never produced. Instead, I was free to make all decisions concerning color scheme and illustrative solutions. In addition to all paint application, I helped our part time master carpenter direct the carpenters, installed and troubleshooted electric motors for large set pieces and olios, and lead the final installation of the show.
Elf: The Musical
Elf was my first production as Charge Artist at La Comedia Dinner Theater. The show sold around 35,000 tickets and generated over $2.4 million in revenue. As Charge Artist, I was primarily responsible for all paint application but, as we did not have a technical director or master carpenter at the time, I was also responsible for directing the carpenters in the build and installation. The largest element, Santa’s workshop, filled the 40 foot wide by 18 foot tall proscenium. The set was finished in seven and a half weeks; of that, I spent two and a half weeks working with the carpenters and the remaining time painting.
